WHEELING, W.Va — In The Basketball Tournament’s West Virginia Regional Championship, Herd That secured a 73-64 victory over Sideline Cancer, earning them a quarterfinal matchup against Boeheim’s Army. Herd That’s height and speed played a crucial role as they surged ahead, turning the game in their favor. After a 7-0 run, they led 21-13 at the end of the first quarter and maintained their advantage at the half, leading 35-31. Although the game remained close in the third quarter, a dominant start to the fourth quarter, with Taevion Kinsey contributing buckets on the first three possessions, put the game out of reach for Sideline Cancer. JP Tokoto’s layup sealed the deal, securing the 73-64 victory for Herd That.
Tyrese Rice of Sideline Cancer led all scorers with 20 points, while Herd That’s Jon Elmore top-scored for his team with 17 points. JP Tokoto and James Kelly also made significant contributions, each adding 12 points to the team’s total.
Herd That’s upcoming quarterfinal clash against Boeheim’s Army will take place at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.V. on Sunday at 4 p.m. EST. The winner of this matchup will advance to the final four in Philadelphia.
